Context

For several years, the Borough of Outremont has been experiencing issues related to amicable cohabitation and the occupation of public space by the Hasidic and non-Hasidic Jewish communities. Problems concerning the level of cleanliness and the use of shared spaces, as well as the broader issues of living together on a daily basis, have affected relations between the Hasidic and non-Hasidic communities.

The formation of the Outremont Good Neighbourly Relations Round Table provides an opportunity to create a space for ongoing dialogue between the Hasidic and non-Hasidic communities. The Table will offer an inclusive environment in which the citizens of Outremont and the Mile-End district of Plateau-Mont-Royal Borough will be able to reflect on ways to create closer ties between the various communities, to reflect on the issues and challenges of living together, and to propose courses of action to the Outremont Borough council.

To support the establishing of the Table, the Borough of Outremont has called on the services of the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal (integrated health and social services university network for west-central Montréal) and the Institut du Nouveau Monde (INM). The latter will act as a neutral third party during the first year of the Table’s activities.

You can use the following form to apply to join the Table, and/or to register for the public information session that will take place via Zoom on May 11, 2021, from 7 to 8 p.m. This meeting will explain the Table’s purpose, processes and mandate, the role of its members, as well as details on the call for applications  and the selection process. The presentation will be bilingual, and will conclude with a question and answer period.

Important: Before filling out this form, please visit the Outremont Good Neighbourly Relations Round Table web page.

The call for applications will be held online from April 26 to May 25, 2021 inclusively.

Thank you for participating!
