The overall aim of BIMplement is to achieve an improved quality for nZEB construction and renovation

Composed of 43 Member Organisations, the Architects' Council of Europe is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to Promote Architecture in Europe, Advance Architectural Quality in the Built Environment, Support Sustainable Development of the Built Environment and Act as the Single Voice for Architects in Europe.

ACE is involved in the EU funded BIMplement project  http://www.bimplement-project.eu/.
The overall aim of BIMplement is to achieve an improved quality for nZEB construction and renovation, specifically on ventilation and air tightness. This is done by setting-up a Continuous Professional Development and BIM-enhanced qualification schemes on BIM related skills and competences for the entire value chain in the building sector.

In order to provide further input  from the architects’ point of view, a survey should be run amongst ACE member organisations in the country of focus of the project (France, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland and Spain). The aim of the questionnaire is to learn more about how architects use BIM in their daily work life, in relation to quality control of nZEB renovations, and in particular on the specific topics air tightness and ventilation.

The questionnaire is composed of 13 questions and can easily be completed in 15 minutes. Deadline for submission: 15 January.

Question Title

* 1. Select your country

Question Title

* 2. How would you rate the BIM maturity in your country on a scale from 1-5 (1 – BIM is not used at all in my country, 5 – BIM is used in every construction project)

Question Title

* 3.   What are the benefits for you, as an architect, to use BIM in your daily activities?

Question Title

* 4. What are the barriers that you encounter regarding the use of BIM?Could some of them be solved by improving your skills and competences?

Question Title

* 5. Regarding training needs of architects and expectation of other trades. Please list, in order of priority, three areas of skills that hinder effective design and well-performing built result of nZEBs. Could you provide justification (eg. specific cases) of your answers?

Question Title

* 6. What are the most common BIM uses in your daily work?

Question Title

* 7. Does BIM facilitate the work on a more complex nZEB renovation of a residential building?

Question Title

* 8. Ventilation and air tightness are key for nZEB buildings.

Question Title

* 9. Do you think that a methodology involving pro-active instruction to blue collars and some self-check activities by blue collars will improve the final quality of buildings? Could BIM facilitate these activities?

Question Title

* 10. With the two examples of air tightness and ventilation in mind:

The following 4 questions relate to BIM training

Question Title

* 11. Which training programs on BIM for quality control do you know in your country? (main players, training programmes, funding, etc.)

Question Title

* 12. Are there any relevant training programs available at local/national level that provide training and up-skilling for architects dealing with the topics of BIM, air-tightness, ventilation, nZEB?

Question Title

* 13. Could you please describe the training module? (E.g. number of hours, Knowledge/ skills acquired, responsibility and autonomy competences, Learning outcomes, teaching material, Evaluation. You can also send us the material via email to info@ace-cae.eu or include a download link here.)

Question Title

* 14. Do you know of any useful design guidelines, checklists, e-learning material (videos), pedagogical documents available at local/national level that provide knowledge for up-skilling architects in the topic of BIM, air-tightness, ventilation, nZEB? (If Yes please insert direct links or references to this material).

Thank you for taking part at the survey!
