Introduction

The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Ethical Trading Initiatives (ETI) thank you very much for agreeing to take part in this survey.  It will help us to guide buying companies like your customers to improve the way they work with you, so that you can improve conditions for workers. Your responses are extremely valuable. You will be taking part in one of the biggest surveys of its kind. We have tried to keep the survey as short as possible, but we also wanted to include enough questions to make sure that we get enough information to provide good and accurate advice to buying companies. This anonymous and confidential survey will take you 30 - 40 minutes to complete. Please, provide answers in English where a written response is required.

In our experience, better working conditions for workers results in better, stronger, more stable and more profitable business. We believe that buyers, suppliers and workers will all benefit from this survey.

Your replies are strictly confidential and anonymous. That means we will not share your individual responses with anyone and the data will always be protected. Your customers will never see your responses. Nobody outside the survey team will see your responses.

All the responses we receive will be analysed by a statistician at the ILO.  Once analysed, we will send you the series of graphs and final report that will be compiled on the basis of the survey.

We will try to understand more about the issues by requesting interviews with some individuals.  At the end of the survey you can tell us whether or not you would like to be interviewed.
