Information and consent form

Title of research project: Occupational stress, compassion fatigue and burnout among Canadian nurses: moderator role of emotional intelligence.

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Stephanie Maillet, B.A., D.Ps., researcher from the business administration faculty of the Université de Moncton in New-Brunswick. The goal of this study is to explore the potential moderator role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between occupational stress, compassion fatigue and burnout among Canadian nurses.

Description: You are being asked to complete a self-administered and anonymous online survey sent to all Canadian nurses who have worked in their organization, and therefore in the nursing profession, for at least 30 days. Questions address your perceptions of occupational stress, compassion fatigue, burnout and emotional intelligence. Some demographic information will also be requested. If you complete the survey, this will serve as your consent to participate in the study. The time required to complete the survey is approximately 30 minutes.

Participation: Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. Your participation in the study is important; however, you have the right to refuse to answer questions or withdraw at any time, without having to explain your decision or suffer any consequences whatsoever. However, once a survey is completed, it is impossible to delete it since no information allowing the identification of participants is collected.

Confidentiality: At no point during the study will it be possible to know your identity. All of your information will remain anonymous. However, the researcher cannot fully guarantee the confidentiality of the collected data since they are stored using the American site «Survey Monkey». All data will be kept for a minimum of five (5) years following the data collection period.

Benefits and risks: Your participation in this study should not involve any significant risks or inconveniences, other than the time required to complete the survey. By participating in this study, you have the opportunity to contribute to scholarly research concerning occupational stress, compassion fatigue, burnout and emotional intelligence among Canadian nurses.

Publication of research results: The collected information will be used for scientific and professional publication. The published results will address aggregate results only, therefore guaranteeing anonymity of participants.
