Malden voters passed a moratorium in 2015, pausing the approval of new multifamily development outside of the downtown to enable the city to seek citizen input and evaluate land use priorities in order to inform policy initiatives in regard to multi-family housing, building heights, parking requirements, traffic issues, population density and open space. As part of this effort, the City is undertaking a survey to gather the perspective of Malden residents about their experiences, concerns, and vision for Malden’s future.
