MOXY - SOCIAL LCA OF CULTURAL HERITAGE PRESERVATION |
The purpose of this survey is to help identify and prioritize the most influential categories of stakeholders (those most affected - positively or negatively) and the social aspects that affect them related to the conservation of cultural heritage artifacts in general.
This survey is mainly addressed to actors involved directly and indirectly in art conservation. For example, we can highlight researchers, art conservators, curators, museums and galleries, private collectors, citizens, public administration, private institutions, private companies, etc.
Assessing the results of this first survey will help us understand the potential positive and negative social hotspots of cultural heritage artefact conservation in general. These will then be used to assess the social impacts and benefits of the MOXY device in specific.
What is the MOXY project?
The MOXY project, a Horizon Europe initiative, aims to develop a non-contact, chemical free, cleaning method for the removal of carbon-based contaminants from cultural heritage artifacts. As part of the project, a sustainability assessment of the MOXY device is performed, comprising a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA), and Life Cycle Costing (LCC).

What is Social Life Cycle Assessment?
"Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) is a methodology used to assess the social impacts of products and services across their life cycle (e.g. from the extraction of raw materials to disposal). S-LCA provides information on social and socio-economic aspects for decision-making in the prospect of improving an organisation's social performance and, ultimately, the well-being of stakeholders. " (UNEP, 2020)
