The Iris Festival celebrates the Brussels-Capital Region.

The weekend of 5 and 6 May 2018, this large celebration with gather the people of Brussels at the heart of their region and will invite visitors to join them, free of charge, in celebration.

Evening concerts will take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 May, on Place des Palais. During the afternoon of Sunday 6 May, this artistic and popular cultural event, will offer the people of Brussels an opportunity to come together and celebrate their region, in a warm and family-friendly atmosphere, as they discover the wide range of activities a region like Brussels has to offer.

For the occasion, the government of the Brussels-Capital Region aims to offer a showcase to all actors of Brussels’ cultural scene, both association and art-related.

This call for proposals deals with the artistic aspect of “Party in the Park” and is aimed at Brussels’ street artists and art companies. This aspect will take place on Sunday 6 May, from 12:00 to 18:00.

All artistic disciplines are welcome. Projects can consist of projections, installations, decorating of urban space, performing arts and street arts, circus arts and fairground arts, exhibitions, games and children’s entertainment animations, participative workshops, face painting, etc.

We favour continuous projects over a long space of time and/or aiming to be seen simultaneously by a large number of people. The same company or artist can propose several projects.
BUDGET

The maximum budget that can be offered to each project is €10,000 VAT not included. That comprises:
  • Artists’ wages
  • Transport costs
  • Costs linked to the purchase of equipment necessary for the project
What’s more, The Iris Festival undertakes to cover the cost of:
  • Copyrights (SABAM, SACD)
  • Costs linked to the technical data sheet (to be discussed depending on the project proposed)
  • Potential water, gas and electricity cost
  • Potential lending of equipment (tent, tables, chairs, subject to availability)
  • Lunchtime catering for the day of the performance
For companies based outside of Belgium:
  • Accommodation costs (maximum 2 nights)
  • Meals during your stay (to be confirmed with the organisation after selection of their project)
SELECTION CRITERIA

The scheduling team will choose the most original projects and try to schedule as many different participants as possible, while keeping in mind the need to cohabit with the other activities in the area (associations, concerts, etc).
The costs linked to the technical data sheet are also an important part of the selection criteria for projects.

AGREEMENT

Once all the projects are selected, agreements will be struck between visit.brussels and the successful applicants.
