The 2024 annual report of the Ombudsman fir Kanner a Jugendlecher (OKAJU), Children's Rights Defender, will focus on the theme of "Current challenges regarding children's rights". A collection of victims and survivors' testimonies is intended to contribute to the analysis of Luxembourg’s child protection system and to enrich the chapter on the protection of children against violence and the need for an integrated child protection system [1]. The voices and experiences of victims and survivors are an essential starting point for analysing the current child protection system and exploring the extent to which it respects children's rights. The perspective of victims and survivors will give the OKAJU a clearer picture of the problems with the current system in order to make recommendations for better child protection across the country [2]. Please send us your testimony by 23rd October 2024 at the latest.

[1] On 23 April 2024, the European Commission adopted a recommendation on developing and strengthening integrated child protection systems in the best interests of the child, which will help Member States to strengthen their child protection systems. It is important that authorities at all levels of governance and civil society in all sectors work together to protect children from all forms of violence in a coherent and systemic way.
