The Gender Leader trophy celebrates the company, active in Africa, that has distinguished itself through its efforts to increase the number of women within its executive bodies (board of directors, top management, etc.), with a strategy to promote women leadership and social initiatives that foster the inclusion of women more generally.

Eligible candidates :

Any company or group of companies active in Africa. For multinationals whose HQ are not based in Africa, only the aspects that concern Africa are taken into consideration.

Candidature by application, third-party nomination (company or individual), or identification by the AFRICA CEO FORUM’s editorial team.

Winner of “Gender Leader - 2019” award can not compete.
 
Criteria : 

- Female CEO (or female Africa CEO for multinationals)
- Women’s representation on the board of directors of the company and its subsidiaries (only in Africa for non-African multinationals)
- Number of women appointed to the board(s) of directors of the company and its subsidiaries over the past year (only in Africa for non-African multinationals)
- Number and percentage of women sitting on the group executive committee (only in Africa for non-African multinationals)
- Number and percentage  of women appointed to senior management roles over the past year (only in Africa for non-African multinationals)
- Share of women in the company
- Company strategy regarding women’s leadership

Award ceremony: 

The call for applications will be open until March 15, 2022.

The winning company will receive its award during a special session at the next AFRICA CEO FORUM annual summit, to be held in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) on June 13 and 14, 2022. 

All pre-selected companies will be notified at least one month prior to the event. They must commit to sending one of their leaders to the AFRICA CEO FORUM annual summit.
